AFTERCARE

AFTERCARE

Remember your tattoo is an open wound and must be kept clean, refrain from doing anything that could result in getting your tattoo dirty, keep it away from your pets, keep it covered at work etc. Clean multiple times a day, morning and night for the first week and any other time during the day when you think it might have become dirty. (After exercise for example). Use warm water and fragrance free or anti-bacterial soap. Rinse and let dry naturally.

For your tattoo to heal well please don't soak the tattoo in water, no swimming, baths, sun bathing, or saunas. You can shower and wash your tattoo whilst showering, be causious of the temperature.

Keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight until fully healed (at least two weeks or until it’s smooth to touch) then use sunscreen if you don’t want it to fade.

It is up to you to look after your tattoo so if you want it to heal well please take care of it. Touch ups are free but I may charge for the touch up if I can tell you haven’t looked after your tattoo.

When your tattoo is finished I will either wrap it in gladwrap or second skin, follow instructions below for whichever I have used-

Glapwrap

-Remove gladwrap after around 2-3 hours max and immediately wash your tattoo with warm water and fragrance free or anti bacterial soap using clean hands.

-Leave to air-dry or pat dry with a paper towel (do not use a normal towel even if it’s clean it can still carry bacteria)

-for the first 3 days repeat above steps every morning and night and don't use and aftercare products. -wash your tattoo every morning and night for the first week following the above steps.

-after 3-4 days you can use some aftercare cream twice a day, after washing the tattoo. Use clean hands when applying and only use a very small amount. (I recommend using a natural balms such as Afterart,Tattoo Tonic, organic coconut oil or something similar.

-it should look healed within 2 weeks. The more heavy black work and colour tattoos may take longer. For these tattoos it’s more important to make sure you’re following all above steps very thoroughly.

Second Skin

Second skin is a waterproof medical protective film that is breathable and will protect your tattoo from dirt and infection.

-It can be left on for up to 5 days IF there is no visible change to the tattoo the morning after the appointment and the film is still secure and not peeling off.

-If you notice a build up of fluid under the second skin then please take off the film the morning after your tattoo; this is normal and isn’t something you need to worry about. Just remove and wash with warm water and fragrance free/anti-bacterial soap.

-If you don’t keep it on for 5 days you can just follow the above instructions for glad wrap.

-removal is easy, just pull down from the corner (like removing a 3M strip from a  wall) you can do this in the shower to make it a bit easier.

-if the second skin peels off over the tattooed area please take it off immediately to avoid dirt getting into the tattoo.

-a little bit of tattoo balm/moisturiser can be used afterwards whenever the tattoo is looking dry.
